Congratulations this week to Alannah, Lilly, Lala and Raphael.

The Rallye Lecture is in full swing! Some of our youngest readers, from Kindy to Year 2, have already finished 10 books – that’s one every day, making sure to swap for a new one each morning. What amazing consistency!
At the end of the Rallye, the student in each Year group with the most books read will receive a certificate and a prize.

Year 6 Camp: Camberwell Primary School Exchange
Monday, August 18 – Wednesday, August 20
Au revoir to the 20 Year 6 students, along with Ms Tegg, M. Gautier, Mme Angaru and Ms Kennedy, who took the plane to Melbourne this morning for a three-day camp as part of the school’s reciprocal partnership with Camberwell Primary School (CPS) in Victoria. This collaboration supports the development of our bilingual program and strengthens the ties between our two schools.
In 2024, KHPS welcomed a group of students from CPS, and now a selected group of our Year 6 students will have the opportunity to experience their bilingual school.
During the camp, students will take part in a range of classroom and extra-curricular activities, offering them valuable insight into life in another bilingual learning environment. This enriching experience also builds on the pen pal project launched in Term 1.
We look forward to hearing more about their exchange!

Overdue Invoices
Thank you to the families who are up to date with their bilingual program invoices.
As noted in recent automated reminder emails, overdue invoices will soon incur late fees.
We kindly remind you that the timely payment of bilingual program fees is essential to the smooth running of our program. As a not-for-profit association, FANS relies on a steady cash flow to meet core commitments—most importantly, paying our dedicated teachers, who bring the bilingual experience to life for your children.
We truly appreciate your cooperation and ongoing support.
Thank you for making prompt payment by bank transfer, or please contact the FANS office to confidentially discuss payment plan options – admin@fanssydney.org or 02 9975 5038.

The Festival of Choral Music Opera House Performance
The Festival of Choral Music Opera House Performance
A massive congratulations to the Festival of Choral Music choir students who performed brilliantly at The Sydney Opera House on Friday 8 August.
After a day of rehearsing in the magnificent Concert Hall, our choir performed range of beautiful and exciting songs in harmony with students from 30 primary schools from Sydney and rural NSW. What an exhilarating experience to sing at the Opera House!
The students representing KHPS, outstandingly modelled our expectations of Respect, Responsibility and Success. We were all very proud, and we are looking forward to more performances throughout the year.

This winter, Gardening Club embarked on an exciting journey of growing carrots from seed to harvest. With hands-on learning and teamwork, our students discovered the joy and patience involved in nurturing plants.
We are proud to share that the students are successfully harvesting a bountiful crop of fresh, home-grown carrots! These carrots are for sale at our gardening club stall in Kindy Kanyon on Monday afternoons 2:45-3:15pm. Funds raised go towards buying more seeds for our next crop.
A big thank you to all the students for their dedication and enthusiasm!

The Eco Team
Harp
The Beginner Harp Ensemble made a wonderful start in Term 3 with Alice, Abigail, Gabriel, Eleanora, Amberly, Dean and Louise. In less than a month, they have discovered the different parts of the harp, learned how to recognise the strings and have even begun reading music! Together, they have proudly played the C major scale, Autumn Leaves, Harp Song and the ever-popular Hot Cross Buns. What an incredible achievement in such a short time — congratulations to all!
The Intermediate Harp Ensemble, with Leo, Rianne, Claire, Mila, and Eleonore, have also been shining this term. They are working hard on new repertoire and are developing their finger technique beautifully.
Well done to all our harp students!

KHPS takes a very strong stance on Bullying. Unfortunately no school can guarantee bullying behaviour will never occur, however we are very proud that we have many effective programs and practices in place at Killarney which mean such behaviour is extremely un-common. We trust that these general and broad programs, activities and practices have the desired effect and that specific and targeted response-based interventions which are used when necessary work together to ensure all our students grow and mature into capable, kind and empathetic young people with the skills to peacefully solve disputes, a process that sometimes takes time and practice.
As we finish the national week of action against bullying, and following the targeted performances students enjoyed last week, we would like to share the following poster with the whole community as a resource should it be necessary. Of course the strongest message we can send to students and their parents is to speak up if you are being bullied, and keep speaking up until something is done.
Upcoming P&C Meeting – Wednesday 20 August 2025
We would to invite all parents and carers to attend our upcoming P&C meeting on Wednesday 20 August, taking place in person at the school office or online via Zoom:
Meeting ID: 835 8653 5185
Passcode: 597314
These meetings are a valuable opportunity to stay informed about what’s happening within our school, engage with fellow members of the community, and contribute to meaningful discussions.
We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!
