Happy Holidays to Our Students!
Dear Students,
As we wrap up Term 1, I want to take a moment to celebrate all of your hard work and achievements! This term has been filled with exciting learning experiences, new friendships, and personal growth. Each of you has shown amazing dedication and enthusiasm, making our school community vibrant and inspiring.
Before the end of this week, I encourage you to take a moment to thank your teachers for all their hard work and support this term. They are dedicated to helping you learn and grow, and a simple “thank you” can go a long way in showing your appreciation.
I also want to remind you to be mindful of thanking your parents and carers during the holidays for their efforts in organising fun activities and experiences for you. Their support makes a big difference, and acknowledging their hard work will surely bring a smile to their faces.
I hope you take this well-deserved break to relax and recharge. Whether you're spending time with family, exploring new hobbies, or hanging out with friends, make sure to enjoy every moment! And don’t forget to pick up a good book or two during the holidays—holiday reading is a fantastic way to dive into new worlds and stories. It can be a fun adventure that keeps your mind engaged while you unwind.
As we look forward to Term 2, I can't wait to see all the fantastic things you will accomplish. So, have fun, stay safe, and come back ready for more adventures in learning!
Wishing you all a happy Easter and restful holiday!
Best wishes & Joyeuses vacances,
MrsTegg
Acknowledging the successful achievements of the following students who have received book prizes this week. Congratulations to Ashton, Aurelia, Flynn, Lucas, Mirabelle, Sean, Sophie, Jack, Richelle and Isla. Thank you for following the school's expectations of Respect, Responsibility and Success and being positive role models for others.

A very well done also to Thomas who was named the 11 year age champion at the recent Zone Swimming Carnival.
Stage 3 Parliament House Visit
Last Wednesday, the leadership team went to the NSW Parliament House. It was an amazing experience. We learned all about what happens at the Parliament House and we went into Mr Micheal Regan’s office. He told us that he was an independent and that the independents are really important in the political world. We learned a lot of interesting facts and we had an excellent morning tea.

School Leaders to RSL Anzac Service
NSW has hosted a 'The RSL and Schools Remember Anzac Commemoration service' since 1953. This is a special commemorative service held at the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park each year specifically for students and hosted by students. Students representing the 3 school sectors perform all of the key roles in the event including master of ceremonies, keynote speaker, choir, band, cadet guard and a range of other speaking and non-speaking roles.
This year two of our School Vice Captains, Savannah and Juliette, were wonderful representatives of our school at the service last Thursday. The girls laid a wreath at the Memorial, along with representatives from a great many other schools, and represented our school student body with respect and responsibility throughout the service.
Following the service, it was a pleasure to be able to introduce our lovely leaders to the Secretary of the Department of Education, Mr Murat Dizdar. Well done, Girls!

Years 3 to 6 IFBS Francophone stream: cancelled this Thursday 10 April due to Athletics Carnival
Due to the early departure of the buses with all Stage 2 & 3 students and staff to the KHPS Athletics Carnival venue this Thursday, Intensive French Before School classes for Years 3 to 6 students are cancelled.
Kindy Garderie and Years 1 & 2 IFBS Francophone stream classes are going ahead as usual.
Enrol now for Term 2: Anglophone stream L’Etude Homework Club
FANS is thrilled to launch the Etude Homework Club for Anglophone stream students for Term 2: Monday 3pm - 4pm, for students from Years 3 to 6.
Thank you to the parents who have expressed their interest to join, and we look forward to launching this new homework group. Every exposure to French reinforces students’ learning.
To enrol, please write us with your child’s details to admin@fanssydney.org. Enrolments are on a first come, first served basis. This group is available as a separate enrolment at a cost of $25 per session and are invoiced per term.
FANS Invoices
As a not-for-profit, parent-led association, the FANS budget relies on program fees to cover salaries for our teachers of French. Thank you to those who have already made payments.
As per the automated reminder emails, all unpaid invoices are now overdue and are accruing late fees. Please check your various inboxes and make a prompt payment.
If you have any questions or require assistance, please confidentially contact the FANS office to discuss payment options: admin@fanssydney.org

Kindergarten Easter Hat Parade
Dear Kindergarten 2025 Parents, Carers, and Grandparents,
You are invited to attend our annual Easter Hat parade.
No need to make a hat. Our Year 6 buddies have helped all Kindergarten students design and create their own Easter hats in class and will parade alongside their buddy on the day.
When: Tuesday 8th April
Where: KHPS Oval and Hall
Time: 2:30pm
In the event of rain, this event will be held in the Hall or cancelled. The school will communicate the final decision on the day.
We are looking forward to celebrating the end of our first term at school with you.
Please come and cheer us on, if available, and join us in a Chicken Dance finale.
Regards,

In Term 1, Stage 2 students have been exploring life before British colonisation in Australia. The different reasons for exploration, such as establishing a world trade route, following the transit of Venus, and searching for new land, were investigated. As students traveled back in time, they learnt that exploration came with both positive and negative consequences.
Last week, we ventured into Darling Harbour to the Sydney Maritime Museum with the goal of further enhancing student knowledge of Australian History. Students explored a replica of Captain Cook’s historic ship, the Endeavour, as well as the HMAS Vampire. All students participated in guided tours around the museum to view the artifacts and exhibitions on show.
It was a fun and engaging day of learning outside of the classroom.

On Tuesday 1 April, a select number of KHPS students represented Sydney North and KHPS at the Area Swimming carnival. To make this level alone is and achievement in itself. A huge congratulations to all the students who participated, parents who help make this happen, accomplished PB's and a shout out to the Junior Girls Relay for making the final.
Congratulations to Thomas H, Thomas D, Charlie P, Amelie P, Maya A, Lea A, Chloe P, Chloe W, Clyde C, Liam HW and Axel S.

Yrs 3-6 NSW Public Schools Student Survey
In Term 2, we are offering our students in grades 3-6 the opportunity to participate in the NSW Public Schools Student Survey. The survey gives students the chance to share their thoughts and feelings about life at school, including questions about their engagement, learning experiences and wellbeing at school.
Hearing directly from our students will help us understand what’s working well and where improvements can be made to our school. The survey is confidential, takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and will be conducted online during school hours.
Participation is voluntary. If you prefer your child not to participate, please complete the opt-out consent form below and return it to the school. Further information about the survey is available at https://education.nsw.gov.au/npss

Harp Ensemble Update
The harp ensemble has been off to a fantastic start this year! Throughout Term 1, the students (Mila, Claire, Rianne, Leo and Eleonore) have shown great dedication and enthusiasm as they developed their harp playing skills. Rehearsals have been focused on building solid foundations in technique, posture, and musicality—and the results are already showing!
Students have been learning to play using their thumbs, second, and third fingers. This is helping them improve their dexterity, hand coordination, and finger independence. They are gradually gaining confidence and precision in their playing. The fourth finger will be introduced very soon.
Did you know that harpists don’t use their pinkie fingers? Unlike other string instruments, the pinkie is typically not strong or long enough to contribute effectively on the harp. This fun fact always surprises students when they start learning!
In addition to technical development, the ensemble is now beginning to learn new pieces in preparation for upcoming school performances. These opportunities not only help build performance confidence but also allow students to share their hard work with the school community.
We are thrilled with the progress the harp ensemble has made so far and are looking forward to a wonderful term ahead.
We are exploring the possibility of starting a Beginner Harp Ensemble, open to all students from Year 1 onwards. This group will provide a supportive and fun environment for young musicians who are new to the harp. Rehearsals for the beginner group will be held on Thursdays from 3:10 to 3:55 pm.
If your child is curious about the harp and would like to give it a try, we’d love to hear from you! Please send an email to khpsband@gmail.com for more information or to express your interest.

Did you see this notification? Emailed from Parent TV (team@parenttv.com) last Tuesday (11:05am). The team behind Parent TV have also produced a very important documentary on parententing called 'Seen: the film'.
As a school subscribing to Parent TV, all of our parents have been offered the opportunity to sign up for a live virtual community screening of the film. It will be held during the holidays (at the end of the second week) on Thursday 24th April at 7pm at a cost of $10 per booking.
I can Personally attest to the power of this film, having seen it at it's premier screening last month. I attended with my wife and would strongly recommend it to any parent. We (personally or as a school) have no 'interest' in the film or the team behind it, but want to take this opportunity to promote the viewing of it to all of our community.
Please contact the office if you were not sent the email with links etc.
With best regards,
John Williams
