Rallye Lecture – French Reading Challenge
Kindy to Year 6 – Francophone stream students
Our Rallye Lecture has now come to an end — and what a success it has been! Stay tuned for next week’s announcements of the coupon draw winners and the much-awaited Certificat d’Or recipients. In each year group, the student(s) who read the most books will be crowned the winners. There will be one winner per year — or more if we have a tie!
All books and challenges were due late last week. If your child still has a Rallye Lecture book at home, please return it as soon as possible so it can be included in our stocktake and ready for next year’s challenge.
This year’s results are outstanding:
- A total of 2,565 books were read in just six weeks — that’s over 600 more than last year!
- Kindergarten students took the lead with the highest number of books read across the school. A big thank you to parents for motivating and supporting their children in their very first year of big school.
- Year 1 and Year 2 students averaged more than 12 books each during the challenge, in addition to their regular homework readers.
- From Kindy to Year 4, the most avid readers reached an incredible 30 books — one book every single day!
- In Year 5, despite tackling longer novels and chapter books, some students managed to read more than 20 books, enjoying everything from novels and comics to non-fiction.
This year also saw something new: our friends at Camberwell Public School ran their very first Rallye Lecture alongside ours. Together, we organised a simultaneous book tasting: students from both schools explored the same books and voted for their favourites. Last week, we finally exchanged results and comments. To everyone’s surprise, several year groups chose the same winning titles!
What a wonderful way to celebrate reading, sharing, and cultural exchange. We can’t wait to see what new adventures next year’s Rallye Lecture will bring.
